About Me

I feel fortunate to have found the perfect career.  As a teen, when I took career placement tests, they pointed me toward helping professions: counseling, teaching, or psychiatry.  And it was telling that throughout my teens, I turned first to read Ann Landers and Dear Abby in the daily newspaper.  So I guess you could say I was destined to be a counselor, helping others find personal and outside resources to be their best self.

My first career was working as a teacher.  I was privileged to work in a diverse community where families settled after immigrating from all over the world.  While working, I returned to school to be a social worker. I deliberately chose to study social work because it considers the whole person and their environment.  It mixes social justice and advocacy with solid clinical training.  Social work allows me to work in a career that aligns well with my personal values – respect for others and a belief in the human spirit.
